FAQ

Common questions

What is flokpit?

An open-source cockpit for AI agents. It runs a flock of agents on your Kubernetes cluster and lets you steer them from chat.

Do I need Kubernetes?

Yes. flokpit runs on your own cluster so your agents, data and keys stay with you. A local cluster works for trying it out.

Which chat tools does it work with?

See the docs for the current list of supported chats. [List supported chats]

Which AI models can my agents use?

You choose the model in your flock config. [List supported models]

Can agents do things without asking me?

Only what you allow. Mark actions like deploys or deletions as approvals. Before an agent does one, it honks and waits for you.

Is my data sent to flokpit?

With the open-source version, no. Everything runs on your infrastructure.

What happens while I sleep?

Agents keep working within your rules and budget. Honks wait during quiet hours, and the morning briefing shows what got done and what needs you.

Can I undo a decision?

Yes, for a few seconds after you answer a honk, pause or land an agent, or change a rule. Everything stays in the audit log.

Do I need a subscription for the AI models?

Yes, an API account with at least one model provider. It is billed by the provider, per use. Chat plans like ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro do not include API access. The full list is on the pricing page.

Which AI providers can I use?

Bring your own accounts: Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, Google, Mistral and more, or local models via Ollama. Each agent can use a different account. [List to be confirmed]

Can my team help fly?

Invite co-pilots and set who is on duty. Honks go to whoever is on duty.

Can I respond on the go?

Yes. The flokpit pocket app for iPhone and Android (coming soon) lets you swipe to approve or reject. You can also link WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal in the app. When an agent honks, you get a message and can approve or reject right from your phone.

Why the name?

Flock plus cockpit. Your agents are the flock, you sit in the cockpit.

Why do agents “honk”?

Geese honk in flight to keep the formation together. In flokpit, an agent honks when it needs a human decision.

How can I contribute?

Open an issue or pull request on GitHub. Good first issues are labelled. [link]
